Improvements on cable oil processing equipment

Cable oil is used in oil-containing cables as impregnator and dielectric. It must have low dissipation factor, high stability to gases and stable properties even if heated for long periods of time.

In general, the requirements to quality of cable oil is higher than to that of transformer oils. This is due to the fact that even small amounts of contaminants may lead to cable fault.

A significant amount of time is required for fault location and repair. Besides, these actions are costly. Hence the need for special equipment to remove water and other contaminants from the oil.

Anatoliy Bartiev, a long time professional in the industry, shared his knowledge on the subject with GlobeCore staff.

Using equipment of this type, made by our company, allows to avoid failures caused by oil-containing cable faults. It is more practical to purchase a cable oil processing unit, than to spend time and money on repairs and restoration of electric transmission lines.

GlobeCore launches the new installation for transformer oil degassing

This week a new automated model type HMM-6D transformer oil degassing machine was introduced. It was designed for degassing of transformer oils. Hardware developers talked about its benefits to the rest of the company and guests.

Some of the features of CMM-6D transformer oil degassing purifier are:

  • a built-in oil tracker that allows tracking transformer oil usage and adjust the production rate the equipment;
  • automatic adjustment of heating controls given a certain desired output;
  • construction of the vacuum column allows you to raise the breakdown voltage of transformer oil from 20 kV to 70 kV;
  • indirect heating oil;
  • Modern components.

Settings screen allows you to set all of the operating parameters setting including: performance, fuel oil, heating temperature, degree of vacuum, etc.

This model can operate in four modes: “Vacuuming mode”, “Degassing mode”, “Heating and filtration mode” and “Self-vacuuming”.

To exclude the possibility of overheating transformer oil after the completion of the four modes mode of final application is turned on.

Transformer oil degassing is fully visible. Selecting the appropriate mode can be done through the touch panel.

The model is fully automated in identifying and eliminating potential problems. In the case of failure of any node or information, an error message will be displayed on the touch screen. Accident reports are stored for 30 days: during this time, you can see when, which node became inoperable, and what sensor was triggered.

Automated model type CMM-6D brand GlobeCore meets modern requirements and standards in the field of processing of transformer oils.

GlobeCore at industrial expo in Acapulco, Mexico

The 26th International Summer Meeting on Electricity, Industrial application (RVP-AI/2013) was held in Acapulco, Mexico on 7 – 13 July.

Our company was presented at the booth of Apfelbaum Inc, which represents GlobeCore(tm) in Mexico, Venezuela and the US.

Visitors of the expo were quite interested in the laboratory/test-bench transformer oil vacuum regeneration system UVR. GlobeCore lead engineer Evgeniy Svirid demonstrated the process of used oil treatment. The regenerated samples exceeded expectations of the audience. Average regeneration output from used oil with 2-4 % of solid contaminants and water was demonstrated at 75-85 % (depending on mode of regeneration). After the experiment, several companies experessed interest in running the test with their own used oil.

“We have been working with GlobeCore for about a year and I must say there is positive dynamics”, says Octavio Manzano, Apfelbaum Industrial’s President. “The products are being improved and I think this is the result of new additions to the team. I enjoy working with young professionals, especially when they are so interested in what they do”, Mr. Manzano added .

The presentation of GlobeCore was concluded by a conference, lead by export department manager Olga Vorkun. This event focused on transformer oil regeneration technologies.

The following issues were addressed:

  • Regeneration of oil by Fuller’s earth, which allows to reduce acidity, increase dielectric strength and extend oil lifetime to 30 years and beyond without degradation of it’s function;

  • Significant extension of transformer lifetime due to improvement of oil chemistry and better protection of windings;

  • Fuller’s earth:

    • This sorbent can automatically be reactivated multiple times retaining its original performance;

    • Possibility to reuse the sorbent for 2 – 3 years or up to 300 reactivation cycles.
